好久好久好久沒有更新這個blog

我想這是因為我這一年的生活實在是很難用言語形容吧 orz

這一年來的研究已經不是用不順利可以形容的了

兩個advisors的不合已經浮上了台面

Thesis proposal

忙了一學期就在搞這個鬼東西

MIT化工系的制度是這樣的，第一年的12月找到教授之後，一年以內要提Thesis Proposal，講未來五年博士研究的規劃

大致上不脫說一下motivation, background, Method of approach和potential chanlleges

因為教我的是一個帥哥
而且非常的有耐心

他今天不厭其煩的教了我一個半小時
其中有很多時候我是恍神在看著他的臉發呆

大三下的時候我上了林祥泰老師的分子模擬課(對不起我連名字都記不住了)
度過我大學生涯中最痛苦的一學期
因此我發誓
我決不...再碰模擬了
至少不要碰那麼難的...冏

是的
由於我之前人生第一次聞藥品聞到頭昏嘔吐
所以我就下定決心去要了一個respirator
過程極其複雜
要先去MIT Medical 作肺部功能的檢查

事情是這樣的
我有一點點小挫屎了>"<
昨天靜下心念patent的時候發現我們預定要做的中程目標已經被patent了...冏
不知道情況有多嚴重~
要跟老師聊聊先

原因也是聊天聊太久
不過今天是跟查理XD
這樣算是一種進步嗎XD

今天做了UV-vis的calibration curve~

是沒在家混啦
跑去學校混XD

中午去瑜珈和吃飯
下午search了一下patent

This is my fifth year doing my PhD. 

I decided to write this series of articles because I think it is about time to share what I have learned throughout the past four years. What can you do if your advisor is a jerk? How to maitain a good relationship with your advisor? How to do research? And so on.

To begin, I think I am going to introduce the PhD program I am in. You come in as a fresh meat and take all the courses you need in the first semester, and then you take the qualifying exam after the first Christmas. You will have your thesis proposal at your second year and then one committee meeting each year afterward. After one committee meeting, one plan-to-finish meeting, and one final committee meeting, you can have your defense. Hopefully, you can/will graduate in five years.

Oh, I forgot to mention that you choose your advisor during your first semester. We have an interesting program: you need to talk to 6 professors and then find your best match before thanksgiving. The professor will sign your form after thanksgiving if he/she is interested in you as well. This is when I met my first advisor, professor Salmon.

If you were/are a PhD student, then you may find yourself in your articles. Don't worry. Everyone has the same issue. This is the first thing you need to learn when you are doing your PhD. I hope my experience can help you work out your issues. If you are planning to do a PhD in the future, then I hope my experience can help you decide if PhD is the right route for you. If you are a professor and you are a jerk, then I hope you can see how your students suffer and show them some mercy. If you are a nice professor, please keep it this way, we need you!

換新project已經兩個月了

我想現在應該是一個好的時機說說自己的感想吧 :)

雖然還是在同一個大project裡面作 (continuous pharmaceutical manufacturing)

不過領域卻完全的轉換了(molecularly imprinted polymer->cocrystallization)
